UNISMUH.AC.ID, SOUTHEAST THAILAND — Abdul Rahim, a student from the Islamic Education (PAI) Department at Muhammadiyah University of Makassar, is conducting Arabic language instruction at Darul Uloom School, Southeast Thailand, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. This activity is part of the International Community Service (KKN) program, which aims to strengthen religious and language education in Islamic school environments.
The International KKN program provides a contextual learning platform for students to apply their knowledge in a global setting. In this program, students from the PAI department play a strategic role in supporting religious learning while also enhancing the foreign language skills of students in Islamic-based schools.
As an Islamic educational institution, Darul Uloom School is committed to strengthening language literacy and deepening religious understanding. To address this need, Abdul Rahim contributes through Arabic language instruction, focusing on mastering basic vocabulary, simple conversations, and understanding practical sentence structures for everyday life.
The learning process is conducted interactively, combining lecture, question-and-answer sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises. This communicative approach is designed to foster students' confidence in actively using Arabic. During the activity, students showed high enthusiasm and participation in each session.
In addition to Arabic language instruction, students from the PAI department are also involved in the implementation of the "Three Languages Camp," which includes Arabic, English, and Malay. This program aims to train students' communication skills in an international and intercultural context, as well as broaden their global perspectives.
The implementation of the International KKN program at Darul Uloom School lasted for one month, from January 27 to February 22, 2026. This program is part of the first batch of International KKN developed by LP3M Unismuh Makassar. This activity provides mutual benefits, both for students as recipients of the program and for students as implementers of service.
Through involvement in the International KKN, Abdul Rahim not only honed his academic skills but also strengthened his social and cultural adaptation skills in an international environment. This program is expected to continue as an effort to strengthen educational cooperation between Unismuh Makassar and Islamic educational institutions in Southeast Thailand.
